Winter may be in it’s last throws, but that’s no excuse to put away the comfort food! As we enter the warmer months let us not forget of one of the mainstay favorites of our youth – The Grilled Cheese Sandwich. Grilled cheese in all it’s forms have filled us up with it’s griddled gooey center in good times and in bad. No other sandwich around can be topped with bacon and dipped into hot tomato soup all at the same time. And on Saturday March 23rd and Sunday March 24th these factors will be made more than clear to you city folk! It’s “The Big Cheesy” a weekend long competition and celebration of this American standard sandwich. All of this deliciousness can only happen in one place, Openhouse Gallery, New York City’s premiere pop-up venue. 2013′s esteemed lineup will included the likes of the returning champs Melt Shop led by Spencer Rubin and co., 2011 champ Milk Truck and 2012′s bronzed Lucy’s Whey just to name a few. As you devour all that cheesy goodness you’re going to need a cold beverage to wash it all down. No problem! The great brewers at Sixpoint will be coming with truckloads of their famous tallboy cans.

Hungry and thirsty yet? We thought so. Tickets (which will not last long) are $25. Each ticket buys you into a one-hour time slot to eat drink and of course vote on who you think is the very best in the cheese game. The timing for these sessions are as follows: Saturday March 23rd from 12-7pm and Sunday March 24th from 12-7pm.
